Bellingham 2022 St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Other Celebrations
It’s been a long two years. It’s hard to believe that we’ve missed the last couple of opportunities to participate in or watch the beloved St. Patrick’s Day parade in downtown Bellingham. We’ve rounded up St. Patrick’s Day events in the past - some virtual and others operating with caution - but this is the first time we’ve been able to share a list this long since the pandemic started.
March 11, 2022
Can you believe it’s already been two years?
Let’s celebrate St. Paddy’s Day with some extra green this year. The events are picking back up and the community is able to come together in person once again. Here are our picks to celebrate:
St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2022
The long-anticipated return of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade is almost here. The event will take place Saturday, March 12th, so you’ll have plenty of time to continue the party on the actual holiday, March 17th.
If you’ve been to previous parades, you’ll notice the route is changed this year. This time, the parade will take people through the revamped waterfront to highlight and enjoy the changes to downtown. The route is a mile long, starting on W. Laurel Avenue, through Waypoint Park, up Chestnut Street, onto Railroad Avenue, and finishing in front of Depot Market Square by Boundary Bay Brewery.
Conveniently, our Bellingham weed store is right down the street from the final stopping point. Boundary Bay will be hosting an after-party, so you will have plenty to do after the march is over.
Rain or shine, the city of Bellingham will be out on March 12th to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Walk in the parade or watch as marching bands, schools, musical groups, local businesses, and more make their way through the streets of Bellingham. The event will be led by Erika Lautenbachm, the Director of the Whatcom County Health Department.
Green Day cover band at Scuttlebutt Brewery
Green is the name of the game this St. Patrick’s Day (and every day at our Bellingham pot shop). So why not celebrate with a throwback to your glory days with a Green Day tribute band?
The St. Patrick’s Day party takes place on Thursday the 17th, the official holiday. Expect plenty of beer specials, food, and lour music. There will also be prizes going out to the best decked-out green outfits. Be sure to dress up.
Boundary Bay celebrations
While we’ve noted Boundary Bay is hosting an afterparty following the parade on Saturday, that’s just the beginning of the celebrations. They are also hosting a party on Thursday, March 17th.
Make that two parties. One will be in the Brewpub, where you can dine and drink in the taproom or bistro. Expect lots of food, music, drinks, and dancing. The other will take place in the beer garden from 4-8 pm, also with music, traditional food, and festive drinks. Of course, you’ll want to make sure you’re dressed up in your green attire for these events.
Regional dinner at Keenan’s
If you’re looking for the true Irish experience, you just might find it at Keenan’s at the Pier. They’re taking a break from their usual menu to offer a traditional Irish meal from 4-9 pm on St. Patrick’s Day. You can find the restaurant inside the Chrysalis Inn & Spa.
Runnin’ O’ the Green
Need to work up an appetite for your big Irish feast? Apart from smoking a big ol’ joint, going for a run is a good way to do it, and the annual Runnin’ O’ the Green is the perfect event.
This event has previously been virtual in response to the pandemic, so it will be fun to have all the runners back in action in real life. With five different routes to choose from, you’re sure to find a route that’s perfect for you, your family, or your friends.
Keep track of your mileage virtually to win local prizes, including the best costume prize. Taking place the morning of Saturday, March 12th, you can go for a run, hit the parade, and follow up with a feast at Boundary Bay. Now that’s a St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
Grab your green garb and get out there and run!
Our picks for celebrating St. Patrick’s Day
Infuse your St. Patrick’s Day celebrations with some green goodness. We love the Minty Chocolates by Hot Sugar, which are tasty mint chocolate tokens infused with 10 mg of THC. Mint Chocolate Bon Bombs by Verdelux are another great choice, as they also have 10 mg of THC and combine decadent chocolate with refreshing mint.
Or find your pot of gold with Sitka’s Lebanese Gold solventless hash. This aromatic sativa hash is bright and citrusy with a smooth mouthfeel and a great burn rate. The full-spectrum hash will have you feeling ready to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day in style.
Green Apple Panda Candies by Hot Sugar are another delicious option for celebrating the holiday on theme. These tasty, tangy, green apple-flavored hard candies have 10 mg of THC per piece and provide a delicious, smokeless buzz, perfect to complement whatever activity you choose this holiday.
Final thoughts
We’re excited to finally share a celebrations list that isn’t mostly virtual! We hope everyone will have a safe and fun St. Patrick’s Day celebration however they choose. And if you choose to celebrate in a traditional Irish manner with some Guinness or other drinks, be sure to do so with caution, especially if you’re also going to be using cannabis. Make sure you know the risks if you choose to mix weed and alcohol.
