Feeling Festive? Halloween Events to Pair with Spooky Strains
Spooky season is upon us. Washington is filled with great pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and festive activities for fall lovers to enjoy. And if you’re brave, this state has plenty of great haunted houses and spooky Halloween events to take celebrations to the next level. We’ve put together a list of Halloween events in Washington to pair with spooky strains.
October 24, 2023
This list contains a mix of events happening in the greater Seattle area as well as the Bellingham and Spokane areas. There’s something for everyone, and this is just the tip of the iceberg to get you started on celebrations. Maybe these events will spark an idea for another great Halloween celebration. Whatever the case, it’s better with weed, so we’ve listed some spooky strains to pair with any Halloween celebration.
If you’re located near our Bellingham dispensary or Spokane weed shops, you’ll have to drive a bit for this event, but we think it’s worth it. Considered a moderately scary event, this ghost tour experience is perfect for celebrating the spooky season.
This ghost tour takes people on a journey through Seattle’s spooky past, including the Northwest’s first elevator for corpses. (Yeah, you read that right.) The tour guides will take you through Seattle’s history and explain why the Emerald City is considered a hotspot for paranormal activity.
This haunted house is located in Tacoma and is well worth the journey. The experience is inspired by H.P. Lovecraft, the influential writer with a knack for horror fiction. As the website says, you can “walk the village’s corrupted streets, brave a sinking cargo ship, and descend deeper and deeper beneath the waves to face unspeakable eldritch evil.” Yeah, that sounds pretty scary to us.
Loaded with constricting corridors, complete and total darkness, strobe lights, foggers, scary audio, and much more, this haunted house might just spook even your bravest friend.
Whatcom Frightmare Haunted House
Don’t want to travel too far from our Bellingham pot shop but still want to get a little spooked? The Whatcom Frightmare Haunted House is the perfect place for you.
Located in Ferndale, this haunted house is on its tenth year of scaring Whatcom County residents. This place also is wheelchair accessible and donates its proceeds to the Ferndale Food Bank and Lummi Nation. Inclusive and with a good cause? Count us in.
This event center offers both light and full scares, tarot readings, carnival games, and even fire dancers. They have a little something for everybody!
Halloween Public Skate
Looking for a Halloween activity in Bellingham that’s festive but a little less frightening? The Bellingham Sportsplex is hosting a Halloween Public Skate on October 28th. And if you show up in costume, you can get free skate rentals!
Unit 55 Horror Games
If you’re near our Spokane dispensary locations and want a local fright, don’t pass up Unit 55 Horror Games.
This attraction in the Spokane Valley is open year-round and goes all out for the Halloween season. As a multi-room, horror-themed escape game experience, Unit 55 offers a unique twist on your average haunted house. Most games are designed for 4-8 players, so gather up some friends and get scared!
Haunted Zip Line Tour
Speaking of unique experiences, have you ever been on a haunted zip line? This Spokane-based Haunted Zip Line Tour is sure to frighten and exhilarate you and your friends this Halloween season.
Their October-only tour includes 3 hours of ziplining, a shuttle ride, ATV ride, a haunted experience, and hot chocolate. Keep in mind that the company specifies they do not include a change in underwear.
Festive strains for Halloween
We hope these ideas have inspired you to have a fun and spooky Halloween celebration this year. What better way to celebrate the holiday than with some quality weed? Here are some Halloween cannabis strains to elevate your celebration.
Candy and cookies? Sounds like Halloween to us. This sativa hybrid combines Granddaddy Purple with Bay Platinum Cookies to create a sweet and euphoric strain that is perfect for daytime activities.
Trick or Dutch Treat? Yeah, we’ll go with the latter. This hybrid strain is a cross between Northern Lights and Haze, and boasts strong fall aromas like pine and eucalyptus. The high is both relaxing and euphoric, making it a perfect option for Halloween-themed celebrations.
This Halloween-sounding strain is a potent hybrid with strong cerebral, euphoric, and relaxing effects. It’s also known to make people feel a bit couch-locked or lazy, so while it could be a good fit for eventful Halloween activities, it would also be a good option for a scary movie night in with your friends or pets.
Note: Remember that it’s not legal to consume cannabis in public in Washington state. Use your best judgment when pairing cannabis with Halloween activities, and when in doubt, wait until you are at home or in a place that explicitly allows consumption.
